TeamGaebler’s SpeedFoiler project continues to gain momentum. On Wednesday, the team – headed by the multiple sailing world champions Roland and Nahid Gäbler – announced additional partners and suppliers for the construction of the high-speed catamaran and the planned global Foiling World Cup racing series. As recently as the beginning of June, the global specialty chemicals company Evonik, based in Essen (Germany), came on board as a partner in the development of the prototype.

SAERTEX EXPANDING ITS CAPACITY AT ITS HEADQUARTERS IN SAERBECK
SAERTEX is expanding its production area at its location in Saerbeck by an additional 10,000 square meters, resulting in a total of more than 50,000 square meters. District Administrator Dr. Klaus Effing, Saerbeck’s Mayor Wilfried Roos, SAERTEX founder Bruno Lammers and his two sons Simon and Klaus Lammers – who recently moved up into management positions in the company – took part in the groundbreaking ceremony on June 12.

Successful completion of DIN SPEC 91326
During the world’s largest industrial fair, the project members IFS Design UG, Citec Engineering and Information GmbH and SAERTEX GmbH & Co. KG met in Hanover on 26 April 2016 to celebrate the successful completion of DIN SPEC 91326 – fire retardant, multiaxial reinforced composite parts, manufactured in vacuum process technologies for railway vehicle applications.

HyRoS research project commenced
Wind turbines are exposed to extreme stresses and environmental influences. The leading edges of rotor blades are particularly susceptible to damaging erosion and the accumulation of ice, depending upon the weather conditions. This can lead to turbine damage and significant degradation of its aerodynamic performance.

SAERTEX lecture at the Fraunhofer IWES
SAERTEX engineer Steffen Baitinger will give a lecture at the official opening of the “BladeMaker Demonstration Centre” at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES) on April 27th 2016 in Bremerhaven. The lecture will deal with the issue of fibre based material technologies with respect to cost reduction and automated composites manufacturing.

DIN Innovation Award for SAERTEX and project partners
SAERTEX and its partners involved in the working group "DIN SPEC 81000 - Testing Method for Technical Textiles" – TexTechno, Faserinstitut Bremen (Bremen Fibre Institute), Groz-Beckert and the FTA Forschungsgesellschaft for Textiltechnik (FTA Research Centre for Textile Technology) – will receive the DIN Innovation Award 2016 which is to be awarded during the 2016 Hanover Messe (25 – 29 April).
