SAERTEX USA is an official IACMI partner

SAERTEX USA is an official project partner to the "Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation" (IACMI) which was launched by US President Barack Obama at the beginning of 2015. The institute is led by the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
The IACMI is supported with 70 million US dollars from the US Department of Energy and a further 189 million US dollars provided by project partners. It has been structured as a public-private partnership based on the model of the German Fraunhofer Institute. The objective of the IACMI is to bring technology leaders from the science and industry sectors together to facilitate the development of new composite material solutions. The primary focus of the work is placed on reducing the large amounts of energy necessary for manufacturing fibre-reinforced plastic components – along with its associated costs. Environmentally friendly manufacturing processes and recycling solutions are also high on the IACMI’s agenda.

The IACMI is already the fifth institute to join the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation initiated by Barack Obama. For SAERTEX USA, becoming a partner on this project represents a milestone in the company’s history. Alongside major American corporations such as Ford, General Electric and Dow Chemical, several German firms are also participating in the IACMI, including Volkswagen, BASF and Evonik. The IACMI team comprises of a consortium of 122 companies, universities and institutes. "We are extremely proud to be part of a community of the most well-known composite material research institutes in the USA", explains Stefan Maier, CEO of SAERTEX USA. "Cooperating with partners throughout the entire value chain is an excellent complement to our corporate philosophy. The IACMI project will give the whole composite industry in the USA a boost and we at SAERTEX will, in the future, be able to understand our customers’ requirements even better – and deliver the solutions they need."
